An award-winning spoken word poet, hip-hop artist, and community organizer with deep roots in the local scene, Chris Rockwell knows how to use words to engage and entertain an audience, making him the perfect MC for the inaugural Culture Around the Corner. Founder and Editor of SOUP CAN MAGAZINE and the very first Grand Slam Champion of the legendary Loser Slam, Rockwell was also named Poet Laureate of Asbury Park. In 2010, he formed the Chris Rockwell Collective, a collaborative ensemble made up of an incredible assortment of talented musicians. With his strong commitment to raising up and celebrating local artists, it’s no surprise he was also crowned Community Musician of the Year by Elephant Talk Indie Music Awards.
